Three men have been convicted of murdering two Australian brothers and their American friend after a violent robbery on a Baja California surf trip, delivering a decisive blow to a case that sparked a months‑long international search.
Conviction Details
A Ensenada judge found Jesús Gerardo García, alias “El Kekas,” Irineo Francisco “N,” and Ángel Jesús “N” guilty of murder, armed robbery and carjacking, the Associated Press reported.
The trio faces up to 210 years in prison each, with sentencing set for October 16, according to the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office.
Victim Testimony
García’s former partner, Ary Gisell Silva Raya, testified that he confessed to approaching the surfers’ tent with a 9mm pistol and that the victims begged for their lives.
She said he ignored a plea for mercy, and later showed her a vehicle fitted with tires allegedly stolen from the victims’ pickup.
Family Reaction
Martin Robinson, the brothers’ father, called the verdict a crucial step toward justice after more than two years of grief.
He said the decision cannot erase their loss but offers the family a measure of closure as they honor the three men.
Background of the Attack
Authorities initially linked the killings to a botched tire theft, saying the surfers resisted thieves who wanted the tires from their pickup truck.
Prosecutors presented evidence that the men were lured to a well near Punta San Jose, where their bodies were discovered on May 3, 2024.
