NFL Stands Firm on Paris Game Amid Muslim Riots

The NFL confirmed that its October 25 game in Paris will be played as scheduled. The league says the matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers will proceed at Stade de France despite ongoing violent protests.

Game remains on schedule

ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced on Sunday that the Saints will depart for Paris within the next 24 hours, reaffirming that the game is still on the schedule.

The NFL released a statement saying preparations continue as planned and that it is coordinating closely with French authorities on security matters.

Saints senior vice president of communications Greg Bensel added that the organization has maintained daily security updates with French partners and has experienced no disruption at its facilities.

Security concerns mount

Protests that began over school conditions and the rising cost of living have erupted into violent riots nationwide, with some demonstrators waving Palestinian flags.

French journalist Paul Amar reported on CNews that rioters in Marseille allegedly obtained addresses of Jewish shop owners, and that a street’s Jewish‑owned businesses were torched while adjacent Muslim‑owned shops were spared; the report did not cite a source.

The Jerusalem Post noted that, although several Jewish‑owned businesses in Marseille were damaged, there was no evidence indicating they were specifically targeted.

Violent incidents intensify

The worst destruction occurred in Limoges, where a masked group set a police car on fire outside the 1883 town hall, smashed its windows, and ignited interior flames that collapsed the roof and toppled the bell tower.
