Police in Wichita, Kansas, released a 34‑year‑old driver after a deadly crash that killed two and injured ten at the Stryker Sports Complex.

Investigation Underway

The Wichita Police Department posted a statement on X confirming that investigators interviewed more than 30 witnesses, including the two children in the truck, before questioning the driver. “Following the interviews, investigators consulted with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. The driver was released pending toxicology results and a vehicle mechanical exam, and no charges have been filed,” the department said.

Victim Identified

Six‑year‑old Adrian Cole and 35‑year‑old Nicholas Schafer, both from McPherson, Kansas, died at the scene. The department emphasized that the two victims were unrelated.

Injured Count

Ten crash victims were taken to Ascension Via Christi and Wesley Medical Center with noncritical injuries; their ages ranged from 5 to 68. An additional 61‑year‑old woman was transported for unrelated medical complications, bringing the total transports to 11.

Community Support

Police Chief Joe Sullivan said the tragedy “should have been a day of soccer and family time, not loss,” and urged anyone with information to contact the department or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers. He also directed those needing mental health help to Sedgewick County COMCARE.
