Trump Says He Ended Eight Wars, Yet Nobel Peace Prize Denied

Related

President Donald Trump erupted at the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Saturday, declaring he deserved the 2026 Peace Prize after boasting of eight war settlements, hostage rescues, a Venezuelan campaign and a crackdown on Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump Blames Nobel Committee

In a Truth Social post, Trump listed his accomplishments and demanded recognition, saying the United States “did not get the Noble Peace Prize” despite his record.

He has repeatedly claimed the prize, first receiving a nomination in 2018 from Norwegian legislators for North Korea diplomacy, and told reporters in 2019 that he expected a fair award.

Nomination History

Trump has been nominated at least five times, according to the individuals who submitted his name, including former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2019 and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 2025.

Netanyahu announced the nomination during a White House dinner on July 7, 2025, while standing beside Trump.

Pillay Wins 2026 Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the 2026 Peace Prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay, 85, who was nominated by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others.

Pillay, the first non‑White woman appointed to South Africa’s high court, later served as a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court, and held the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights post from 2008 to 2014.

Controversy Surrounds Pillay

Critics accused Pillay of anti‑Israel bias during her chairmanship of the U.N. Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Palestinian Territory and Israel, a claim she disputes.

Anne Bayefsky, president of Human Rights Voices, told Fox News Digital that Pillay “is indeed a world leader” and warned that her work fuels antisemitism.

U.N. Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres praised Pillay’s career as “steadfast” and a “champion of international law and human rights.”

Trump Vows New Agenda

Trump announced he will focus on Iran’s nuclear threat, a Gaza peace plan and a sweeping UN reform in an upcoming world‑stage speech.

The Trump administration has sanctioned Pillay for alleged abuse of power, asserting she overstepped her authority at the International Criminal Court.

Fox News Digital’s Efrat Lachter contributed to this report.
