Protesters Clash with Police Outside RNC Convention
Hundreds of “Never Trumpers” confronted Dallas police just blocks from the American Airlines Center, where the president was set to close the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed two arrests after officers said the demonstrators “assaulted a counter‑protester” and “obstructed a road.”
Video posted on social media Thursday showed a large crowd facing officers in riot gear, prompting a heavy police presence.
Rick Majumdar, a protester wearing a shirt bearing the initials of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, said the march was organized by the Dallas Against the Trump Agenda Coalition, a coalition of 16 faith‑based, immigrant‑rights and labor groups.
Majumdar asserted that police blocked the group’s path, then “tackled two of them and arrested them,” adding that some officers “pulled out their guns as well.”
The department said the suspects’ names and specific charges would be released after booking.
Police emphasized that the arrests stemmed from actions that disrupted public order, not from the protest’s political message.

GOP leaders gathered in Dallas with one mission: defy historical trends and secure a decisive victory in the upcoming midterms.
The party’s convention, taking place September 10‑12, 2026, aimed to energize supporters and counter the narrative of division.
Meanwhile, the protest underscored lingering tensions over political violence and the targeting of public figures, marking the first anniversary of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Majumdar declined to specify a direct message for President Donald Trump, simply saying, “Thank you.”
