Kai Trump, a freshman on the University of Miami women’s golf team, announced she underwent successful wrist surgery that sidelines her for the remainder of the season.
Wrist Surgery sidelines Trump’s Freshman Year
The 19‑year‑old posted a photo from a New York hospital bed showing her arm in a sling and cast on Instagram, confirming the operation at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Trump said the procedure is optimal for her long‑term health and future in the sport, noting she had hoped to avoid surgery after consulting family, coaches and training staff.
She previously had surgery on her left wrist in January to repair the ECU tendon and triangular fibrocartilage complex, according to a statement released at the time.
The wrist injury occurred during her first college tournament, disrupting her participation in a three‑round event in Muncie, Indiana, where she was forced to play two rounds in a single day.
Trump thanked Dr. Michelle G. Carlson, her teammates, coaches and family for their support, but offered no specific recovery timeline.
In her Instagram caption, she emphasized patience and determination, pledging to return stronger for the Canes.
Scott Thompson, a sports writer for Fox News Digital, reported the details.
