New FEC filings confirm the super PAC, backed by former President Donald Trump, has committed $10 million to support Paxton and attack Talarico, drawing on a war chest that topped $400 million as of July 31.
Trump has pledged to pour as much as $500 million of outside money into the race before Election Day, making the Texas contest a flagship battleground for his political operation.
The first ad spot highlights Paxton’s “Protecting the Texas Promise Agenda,” promising to double the child tax credit, cut medical expense taxes and create a $50,000 deduction for first‑time homebuyers.
“While James Talarico has a record of raising taxes on working families, my agenda cuts costs and makes life more affordable. Thank you, President @realDonaldTrump, for your support. Together we will win for Texas and America,” Paxton said in a statement released after the ad launch.
Elon Musk adds firepower
Tech billionaire Elon Musk’s America PAC contributed more than $800,000 in independent expenditures last month, including roughly $250,000 earmarked for Paxton’s Senate bid.
Musk’s group, which spent hundreds of millions to help Trump win the 2024 presidency, plans to focus on door‑knocking, digital ads and direct mail to energize conservative voters in midterm elections.

Republican Senate campaign committees face steep media market costs in Texas, prompting Senate Majority Leader John Thune to urge Trump’s involvement while warning of a competitive environment.
“I worry about that, for sure,” Thune told a local CBS affiliate, adding that Republicans cannot afford to spend heavily in Texas without risking the Senate majority.
With control of both chambers at stake, the influx of high‑profile money underscores a broader GOP effort to secure Senate seats amid rising gas prices, Iran tensions and sagging approval ratings for Trump.
