Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from a WNBA game at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena after a heated clash with Sky guard Natasha Cloud.
Game‑time confrontation
With 1:22 left in the third quarter, Cloud scored and the Fever called a timeout. Cloud approached the baseline, pointed and shouted at Freedom, who rose, raised both arms and stepped toward the court. Teammates and officials intervened, stopping the altercation before it escalated.
Freedom, wearing a t‑shirt that defined “woman,” spoke briefly with police before leaving the arena.
Support for Sophie Cunningham
He attended the game and a pre‑game rally to back Indiana Fever shooting guard Sophie Cunningham, who has become a focal point for pro‑trans activists after declaring support for biological women in sports.
Recent protests have followed the Fever, and women and girls showing support — whether for biological women or for Cunningham — have been harassed and told to cover up XX‑XY Athletics shirts or face removal.
Players enter the draft
The WNBA’s reluctance to draw a hard line between male and female athletes prompted Freedom and former NBA player Royce White to declare for the 2027 WNBA draft.
Freedom said he met the league’s self‑identification framework and was a 2027 prospect, a claim previously reported by The Daily Wire.
White added that he identified as “a sometimes transgender woman” and warned he would file a discrimination lawsuit if he were not drafted.
