South Carolina Republican Tibi Czentye is launching a second campaign for State House District 41, declaring that the Democratic Party’s socialist turn endangers liberty.
From Romanian Prison Camp to South Carolina Ballot
Born in Romania under dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, Czentye fled in 1989. He escaped a Yugoslav prison camp, spent three weeks on the run across Europe, and reached the Netherlands as a refugee.
He arrived in the United States in July 1991 with two suitcases and two children, speaking no English. Within five years he worked three jobs and launched a digital solutions company.
After settling in California in the early 1990s, he watched the state shift left. He concluded California resembled Romania and moved to South Carolina in 2009.
Czentye cites God, family, guns and freedom as the values that draw him to South Carolina. He says those principles motivate his candidacy.
“I risked my life to escape a communist regime,” he told the Republican Women’s Club. “Freedom is the most important thing we can leave behind, and I will fight to protect it in the legislature.”
His platform centers on infrastructure upgrades, support for small businesses and tax relief. He pledges to bring the lived experience of a former refugee to every policy decision.
Czentye’s sons, Alex and Chris, are now grandparents of seven. He says their success underscores the American dream he lives every day.
He adds that integrating newcomers means speaking English, working hard and rejecting dependence on government handouts. He believes this stance will resonate with voters in District 41.
The Democratic Party has embraced socialism and is spreading it rapidly. Democrats claim there is no danger while the truth tells a different story.
