A former security guard wounded in the July 13 attempt on Donald Trump’s life has died, House Republicans announced.
Wounded Guard Dies After Trump Rally Shooting
House Republicans posted on X on September 24, stating they were “deeply saddened” by the death of Jim Copenhaver, who was “gravely wounded” in the Butler, Pennsylvania shooting.
Copenhaver was among four people shot when a gunman opened fire at the Trump rally in Butler, Pa., on July 13, 2024.
Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed, while David Dutch and Copenhaver suffered serious injuries and ongoing complications.
Trump narrowly escaped death when a bullet grazed his right ear.
The alleged shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, died after Secret Service returned fire.
