The Hawkeyes marched 91 yards in the final drive. A penalty for unnecessary roughness on third down moved the ball into field‑goal range, and Brown connected with Addison Ostrenga for a 29‑yard gain that set up the winning score.
“To be able to silence a stadium like that, there’s no greater feeling,” Brown said after the game.
Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood had earlier tied the game with a 49‑yard pass to JJ Buchanan. The Wolverines could not hold the lead and fell short.
Coach Kyle Whittingham expressed disappointment, saying, “We would’ve liked to run the clock out. That was disappointing.”
Iowa had taken an early fourth‑quarter lead on Brown’s 16‑yard pass to Vander Zee. The team missed a 51‑yard field goal attempt after a false‑start penalty on fourth down.
Next week, Iowa travels to Columbus to face Ohio State, while Michigan returns home to play Minnesota.
