Both parties back ending the conflict, with 60 percent of all Republicans and 56 percent of MAGA Republicans supporting termination, and a separate Quantus poll shows 87 percent backing the preliminary U.S.-Iran agreement while only 13 percent oppose it.
Poll Shows Overwhelming Demand for Iran War End
Less than half of respondents say the war achieved U.S. strategic, military, or economic goals. This indicates most view the conflict as not worth its cost.
President Donald Trump announced an initial agreement on June 14. He signed a memorandum of understanding with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on June 17, launching a 60‑day window for negotiations.
Vice President JD Vance spent his weekend in Switzerland. He joined Qatar‑mediated talks with Iran and Pakistan, a pairing described by the two nations as a positive and constructive atmosphere.
At a White House press conference on June 18, Vance warned Israeli officials that they risk losing their only powerful ally if they block the deal. He emphasized that such opposition would jeopardize Israel’s strategic position.
Mark Levin attacked Vance on social media, calling his remarks “revealing.” Other Republicans criticized him despite poll majorities favoring an end to the war.
Political commentator James Lindsey warned that Vance’s role could hurt his 2028 presidential bid. A Wall Street Journal column echoed this view, saying Trump and Vance echo anti‑Israel sentiment and jeopardize Vance’s election chances.
Public opinion has remained overwhelmingly against the war from its outset. The latest polls confirm that most Americans desire its termination.
